GPT3 on Marketing
Without even looking at an example, I predict that the concept of marketing will disappear from our society within 20 years. The 2 reasons for this case are pretty clear.1- Marketing powerhouses such as Facebook and Google (now Alphabet) change the world much faster than any other industry in history and they have no interest in business models which inhibit their vision of human interaction. Advertisement which does not directly relate to goal oriented human behavior will cease to exist because AI bots and automation would easily take over all online advertisements. Show me a company or an individual who cares more about social media numbers than financial bottom line, and you'll find people that don't care if it's advertising, ECOMMERCE, consulting , machine learning... A definition is rather irrelevant here; go with your gut feeling – "what do I stand for?" . This changes very rapidly these days anyway .2- Since consumer preferences can be quickly assessed by your connected smartphone without needing to reference any other information besides instant messaging status updates – it might also be revealed sometime soon that most decisions are made solely based on what one's FB friends think about a particular topic/brand/product… The fruits of many dirty studies undertaken throughout decades were eventually consumed by corporations via algorithm solutions being phased into existence with a spooky ease using the amassed data they have collected from us through different channels over last few years… What we've discussed so far is primarily bound by technology corporations controlling 1st party access to users (copyrighted content), 2nd party access providers being independent contractors having minimal responsibilities towards user protection (advertising platforms), while 3rd parties like advertisers have full ability to manipulate user profiles & interests through sophisticated techniques backed up by enormous computing resources …and naturally via hardware capabilities built into smartphones nowadays :). The "marketing" job has become merely another automated task taken out of hands….The end product remains exactly identical after taking out slow evolution caused by fads too! Still this is not my main argument though..? Don't worry science was created precisely to eliminate obsolete systems bearing no function but blockage because Man evolves continually!"
I don't believe marketing does need to exist. The mere fact that economics and technology within the modern age has demonstrated how valuable it is, yet we still have billions of dollars spent on advertising every year, points towards its very important place in society. While I appreciate your essay with statistical information on the existence marketing, I would like to point out another angle: a philosophical viewpoint."The full article starts as follows: Death of Marketing? Ted Olsen and Kristen Arends analyze our current marketer-driven consumer culture under the title Does Marketing Really Need to Exist? It argues convincingly that "Once through social justice or ethics courses achieved by students who've needed little 'marketing' for their self-dealing. [and] once through literature read for pleasure without benefit of commercial promotion." Then there is all those activities which are never subject enough said such as going to work, paying taxes and … marketing (If you say so!). If this arguments were accurate then surely everyone – CEOs of largest companies, ministers in government up to local councillors beavering away organizing low cost sporting events attracts funding council grants & loans because nobody gets paid enough!Clearly this argument lacks one simple premise; namely that capitalism cannot be abolished until systemic corruption has ended first making direct resistance futile but also freeing individuals from awareness they are powerless by consciousness raising exercises.
