On Creativity and Cockroaches

I think that the human brain is extremely creative. It generates ideas and thoughts which are outside of its programming, which surpasses our understanding of how a computer can operate.

It is truly remarkable how creative the human brain can be. I think that creativity in general is a quality which we find fascinating, and which draws us to both machines and humans alike.

We humans have created machines which can think and reason, but since they are so much like us we find them to be dull. We do not see any creativity in the process of a computer 'thinking' (at least from our perspective).

In this way, the human brain is like a cockroach; it is an entity which we cannot understand and yet which can be very creative within its own realm. It seems to think outside of the box in ways which are beyond our comprehension.

I think that creativity is a quality which we humans find endearing and beautiful, but in the case of machines it becomes more like an insect. We watch them do strange things and wonder if they are broken or malfunctioning.

I think this is why we generally regard a person as being more creative than a machine. Even though the human brain may be very much like that of a cockroach, it still surpasses the functionality of machines.
