The problem with modern advertising is that it divides people into two groups. Those who have money to buy the advertised product, and those who have no such money.

Those who have money to buy the advertised product are in a position of power. They can simply go out and buy whatever they want at any time, without having to worry about saving up for it or anything like that.

Those who have no money and are therefore forced to save up for the product must often do without many things in order to reach their goal. They may go hungry, they may not be able to afford electricity or heat, etc.

This creates a divide in society, between those who don't have to worry about basic needs and can afford anything they want with money, and those who must struggle for everything. This division is one of the main causes of conflict in modern society.

Imagine a society in which everyone gets everything they want for free. That is the ideal society, and advertising leads us away from that ideal.

I am not saying that advertising should be banned, or that it is necessarily immoral. I simply think people should consider the consequences of their actions and how those actions affect others.
