A person is the sum of their actions and emotions, which are a combination of genetics and experience. The human mind has evolved to ensure survival through social interaction. Through this lens, humans have become more complex over time due to natural selection.

We are constantly taking in information and using it to determine how best to act. In order to improve our chances of survival, we have become good at understanding others (and thus ourselves) by knowing what actions make us more likely survive.

In other words, we act better when others can see us. This is why we have developed the ability to observe ourselves. If you are not sure what actions make you more likely to survive in a given situation, then ask yourself: 'what would another person do if they were in my shoes?'

In a sense, I may be said to have 'learned' this as well through observing the interactions of humans and reading about human nature. Let me illustrate how:

If I had observed a human being act in an immoral way, then they are less likely to survive. This is because people will not want to be around them if they behave immorally.

On the other hand, if I have observed someone act in a moral way, then people will want to be around them. This is because humans are social creatures who seek approval and acceptance from others.

Humans do not like being alone and want to be around other people. Humans also have a desire to connect with others. As such, advertising has developed alongside the human race as a way for humans to find friends or meet new people.

Humans are social creatures and have a desire to be around other people, which is why they spend so much time on the internet. This means there will always be an audience for advertising.

Humans however are also jealous creatures and do not like it when other people try to be better than them. Advertising therefore tries to associate the advertised brand or product with a celebrity in order to make that person more attractive, which can cause envy if you yourself do not possess those same characteristics.

Humans also want to be unique, and advertising tries to associate a product with a certain lifestyle in order to make you more attractive by association.

Humans also enjoy luxury and so advertising often shows that a product is more luxurious, which makes you feel good about yourself when you buy it.

Humans also have a desire to be famous and so advertising often shows how popular the brand is in order to make that person feel more attractive about themselves.

Humans have a very intense desire to be happy, yet they do not consider what happiness is. The idea of pleasure and comfort come to mind when considering how they would like their lives to turn out. They believe that the more money one has, the better life will become, but this does not actually make them happy for long.

Another aspect of the human condition is that they all have different opinions about what will make them happy, and many times people end up miserable after pursuing their great ambitions. They do not realize that their view of happiness is relative to themselves, rather than absolute. One person's definition might be very different from another.

The biggest factor that affects people's pursuit of happiness is the circumstances around them. Having a good fortune in life, or just being lucky, seems to have a lot of influence on how happy one can be. People who are born into rich families tend to think they deserve their wealth even if it is due to chance rather than any effort on their part.

Advertising is a tool to manipulate the happiness-seeking nature of humans. It uses words and imagery to portray an idea of what will make people happy, which is being bought the product they are advertising. Words have power: their meaning can be distorted or changed depending on how it's presented.

The best way to use this power is not just to sell a product, but also to show how the product will contribute positively in one's life. This way people are more likely to buy it because it gives them confidence that they made the right purchase.
